Vael and Sorcha Farragos are twin sisters. They grew up without parents, side by side, united as one against all the world's innumerable threats and terrors. Their only support was one another. Even after they were taken in by the Temple of Archos, the were inseparable. Their life at the temple was one of warm food and soft beds, but near endless training. Already a formidable pair, under the training of temple's best warriors, they became a whirlwind of death on the battlefield; two young warriors moving as one with no mercy and seemingly no weakness.

After successfully routing an enemy force and taking over their stronghold, the twins become the first two warriors to defend against a counterattack in the dead of the night. They encounter an enemy they didn't anticipate and the result of the battle begins a journey of despair, loathing, and a burning vengeance.

Author's note: While this novella is part of the Realms of Valen universe, it is a separate, stand alone story that takes place centuries before the tales of Kaidia Valengaard and doesn't require you to have read the core series of novels. Enjoy!
